Manhattan-based artist Chakaia Booker uses cut tires to create outdoor sculpture, and the Milwaukee Art Museum will showcase her provocative work as part of its ongoing On Site Installation series from Sept. 30 to Feb. 13, 2011.

The name of the installation is "On Site: Chakaia Booker" and it will feature about a dozen of her works which range from figurative to abstract.  The pieces incorporate weaving, basketry and African dance.

Booker will give a lecture and tour of her installation at the museum on Thursday, Sept. 30 at 5:45 p.m. The event is free with paid museum admission.

The Milwaukee Art Museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Thursdays until 8 p.m. Admission is $12 for adults and $10 for students, seniors and active military. Children 12 and under are free.
