In my line of work, I get faced with what I call "Milwaukee entertainment emergencies." This means that sometimes I drop what I'm doing and respond to breaking news. I’ve run into restaurants wearing my ugly glasses and "indoor pants" for a scoop; I’ve taken a sleeping toddler into a noisy bar to grab a quote.

It’s not always like this, luckily for my sleeping children, but when duty calls, I do what I gotta do. And I’m just crazy enough to love it.

Earlier this week, I was knocking out an article at a Brady Street bar and I realized I didn’t have a photo card reader. At first, I thought I was going to have to go all the way back to my Walker’s Point home to get one, which would mean the article would get posted a half hour later than I planned.

Instead, my partner posted to social media, asking if anyone in the Brady Street area had a photo card reader, and within five minutes, Facebook friend (and now real-life friend) Bob Gregory was there, smiling with a card reader in hand.

The story was posted within minutes. Milwaukee got its entertainment news. And Bob got a beer.
