About two years ago, my son asked me if we could go to a show called "Marvel Universe Live" that was coming to Milwaukee in March 2016. At the time, the dates sounded so far into the future so I replied with the safe, "Yeah, maybe. We’ll see."

Well, time has once again quickly and mysteriously passed, and this Thursday night, after 24-plus months of anticipation, my sons and I will be at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena checking out the live superhero action.

The show runs from Thursday, March 17 through Sunday, March, 20. Thursday and Friday night shows are at 7 p.m.; Saturday shows are at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and Sunday features 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. performances.

I’ve been schooled by my 13-year-old that the show features epic favorites such as Spider-Man and The Avengers (Iron Man, Black Widow, Hulk and more) along with a plethora of sinister villains. Upon further reading, I discovered the show offers an "original story that brings more than 25 Marvel icons together on one heroic quest."

Basically, the Cosmic Cube, which is the source of ultimate power and one of the most feared and coveted treasures in the Marvel Universe, has been shattered into pieces by the Mighty Thor in order to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands. Hence, with the pieces scattered across the globe, Thor’s villainous brother Loki devises a scheme to clone its powers, inciting a threat that could not only decimate Earth but also obliterate the universe.

The show will include plenty of special effects, pyrotechnics, aerial stunts, martial arts, high-speed motorcycle trick-riding and more, with some critics calling it "the most technically advanced live show ever."

I’m tempted to wear my Wonder Woman cape, but she’s a DC Comic, not Marvel, so that might be in bad form.

Tickets for Marvel Live range from $20-120 and are available at the arena box office, 400 W. Kilbourn Ave., (414) 908-6001 or marveluniverselive.com.
