Survey says Milwaukee women aren't promiscuous
Considering all of the beer drinking in this town, it's seems slightly surprising that, according to one study, short-term sexual relationships aren't flowin' freely.
Based on a recent study conducted by SeekingArrangement.com, a website for mutually beneficial relationships, 66 percent of women in Milwaukee have one or fewer sexual partners each year.
Nationally, the average woman has three sexual partners per year.
Nashville topped the list of "good girls," with 72 percent reporting one or fewer sexual hook-ups every year. Columbus and St. Louis took second and third place as the least promiscuous cities.
"Monogamy is not dead, it's just harder to attain than it used to be, and perhaps some cities promote a more monogamous culture," says Brandon Wade, Founder & CEO of SeekingArrangement.com.
These results were based off a poll conducted on 10,000 single, American women registered on the website. Here's the top 10 list:
1. Nashville, Tenn. (72%)
2. Columbus, Ohio (69%)
3. St. Louis, Mo. (68%)
4. Milwaukee, Wis. (66%)
5. Denver, Colo. (65%)
6. Norfolk, Va. (63%)
7. Tampa, Fla.(62.5%)
8. Louisville, Ky. (61%)
9. Tacoma, Wash. (60%)
10. Charlotte, N.C. (59%)
Personally, I am of two minds about this. Certainly, I am proud of Milwaukee women for being particular and, of course, it's a health-conscious choice. But I also think part of the outcome of this study speaks to Milwaukeeans' resistance to change, to try something new. I think we get caught up in the same old, same old, whether it's a TV show or a restaurant or a job or a sexual partner.
But cheers to anyone in a healthy, monogamous, long-term relationship. (And cheers to those who aren't.)

I think that the results of this "study" are less than empirical. The "Seeking Arrangement" website caters to women seeking sugar daddies, so basically, they are polling women who are looking for a meal ticket. My guess--and this is just a guess, obviously, is that there are far fewer of those types of women in the Midwest than there are in some other areas of the country. It just isn't as socially acceptable to be a "kept woman" here as it is in Miami or LA or New York.
Furthermore, I think that the other thing that bears mention is that women lie and grossly under report their number of sexual partners--just like guys lie in the other direction. If a woman says that they have slept with three guys in the past year, I would triple that...just like if a guy says that he has had the pleasure of nine women in his bed, I would cut that down to three.

I agree with Little Tiny Fish. And I have to say that anyone in a satisfying monogomous relationship would disagree with the author's assessment that it's "same old same old". Everyone loves hearing stories about couples celebrating their 50 or 60 year wedding anniversaries, yet we poo-poo monogomy? Doesn't make sense.

Why are we defining our city's sexuality based on only half the population? Why doesn't men's sexuality fall under the same scrutiny?
