Last year, Summerfest started selling engraved pavers that were placed in the ground in the Beat Street Plaza which includes the large instruments on the south end of the festival grounds.

When I saw this opportunity, I knew I had to buy one for my dad, who attended every Summerfest from the very first one to 2010. He passed away in November 2010.

Pat, my stepmother and friend, went in on this with me – it cost $75 (larger pavers are available for $150 and $200).

There are about 100 engraved pavers in the ground. Our paver is in front of the big guitar and it makes me happy to know my dad’s still a part of Summerfest in some small way.
