NLDS: Greinke to start Game 2

The Brewers' picture for the National League Division Series is becoming a little more clear.

Manager Ron Roenicke announced Friday that Zack Greinke would start Game 2 of the series, set for Sunday afternoon at Miller Park. There was some speculation that Shaun Marcum would get the assignment because Greinke started the season finale Wednesday.

Roenicke, though, opted to go with Greinke, who only threw 74 pitches in the Brewers' 7-3 victory due in large part to his work this season at Miller Park. He went 11-0 in 15 home starts with a 3.13 ERA. The Brewers won each of those games.

Shaun Marcum will start Game 3, scheduled for next Tuesday in Phoenix. No word yet on who will go in Game 4, but Roenicke has said previously that he'd like to go with a four-man rotation in the NLDS so Randy Wolf is the likely candidate.

Of course, we all thought that Marcum would be pitching Sunday, too, so anything could happen between now and then.

I'll have more from workout day at Miller Park a little later today at OnMilwaukee.com.

Uecker to throw out first pitch Saturday at Game 1 of NLDS

It's a workout day at Miller Park, in preparation for Game 1 of the National League Division Series between the Brewers and Diamondbacks. The Brewers' portion of the day, including media availability, is scheduled to start in a little bit but the team did pass along some procedural notes for the game tomorrow:

Foremost on the list is that Bob Uecker, the Brewers' Hall of Fame play-by-play broadcaster will throw out the first pitch Saturday before Game 1 of the National League Division Series at Miller Park.

Other things to keep in mind:

  • The Miller Park parking lots will open at 10 a.m. Fans should plan to arrive early and purchase passes in advance; Gates to Miller Park will open at 11 a.m.
  • All fans in attendance will be given a Brewers Rally Towel upon entry, courtesy of U.S. Cellular.
  • The national anthem will be performed by Joseph Attanasio, father of Brewers Chairman and Principal Owner Mark Attanasio.
  • The first pitch of the game is scheduled for 1:07 p.m. CT. It will be televised exclusively on TBS.
  • The roof position is determined by Major League Baseball after conferring with the Brewers on weather conditions. No final decision will be made until the day of each game.
  • The Brewers Team Store by Majestic and Brewers Team Store at the Home Plate Gate will both open at 10 a.m. There will also be satellite merchandise locations throughout the Miller Park parking lots. The stores will be open until 8 p.m. or an hour after the game ends.
  • A limited number of Milwaukee Brewers 2011 NLDS Game Programs will be available for $8 at Miller Park this weekend. Each game program is individually numbered. There are four different covers.
