Fear not, Brewers fans, the smoke from the Minnesota wildfire isn't causing a problem at Miller Park tonight.

First of all, yes, the stadium's convertible roof is closed for the game tonight between the Brewers and Colorado. Still, there is a definite haze hanging over the field, much like there is across Milwaukee today.

The decision to close the roof was made by the Brewers and not because of any complaints by players from either team.

"It was our decision," team spokesman Tyler Barnes said. "The temperature (64 degrees at first pitch) was already sort of at the borderline of open vs. close in terms of fan comfort. So when you have the haze and smoke on top of that, it kind of makes it a common sense decision."

But the fire trucks parked outside had nothing to do with the current conditions.

Tuesday's game was part of an effort by the Brewers to honor First Responders at Miller Park. As part of the evening's festivities, a number of Milwaukee Fire Department vehicles are parked outside the stadium, allowing fans to get an up close view of the gear and equipment MFD uses on a regular basis.

The celebration continues tomorrow, with First Responders getting deals on tickets and also participating in the usual pregame ceremonies.
