More viewers in southeastern Wisconsin have chosen to watch WISN-TV Ch. 12 newscasts more than the others. The ABC affiliate won ratings races for the 10, 5 and 6 p.m. newscasts.

"Being the news leader and No. 1 television station in southeastern Wisconsin is a wonderful honor and comes with great responsibility," Jan Wade, president and general manager of WISN, said in a statement.  "We are particularly proud to serve our viewers with stories that are important and impactful to our community – stories that really make a difference and affect change."

At 10 p.m. , Ch. 12 led with a 8.9 household rating. WTMJ-TV Ch. 4 was second with 6.0, WITI-TV Fox 6 was next with 5.7 and WTJD-TV CBS 58 had a 5.6. Traditionally, networks have been ranked by who wins the 10 p.m. broadcast, yet it rarely shows the diverse viewing options available in this market. The 10 p.m. is traditionally the largest viewing audience as well.

WITI has a 9 p.m. newscast, which scored a 5.9 in May and the news team at WDJT air a 9 p.m. newscast on WLMW, which had a 1.0 household rating. WISN has the only newscast at 10:30 p.m., which recorded a 6.3 rating in the latest sweep.

"I am so happy for, and proud of, our staff,"  Wade said. "They are a very dedicated, caring and hard working group of professionals, whom I look forward to working with each day."

At 6 p.m., WISN leads with a 6.5 rating, as WDJT’s broadcast of "Jeopardy" comes second with a 6.3. WTMJ is next at the time slot with a 5.2 and WITI had 3.8 At 5 p.m., WISN scored a 5.6, WTMJ 5.2, WITI 3.1 and WDJT 2.7. This is the only-head-to-head measurements in the early evening. WTMJ is on with local news from 3 to 5 p.m. and at 6:30 p.m. while the other stations have other programming. And WITI has local news at 5:30 p.m.

The morning race winner is WITI, leading the others with a 4.7 household rating between 6 and 7 a.m. Fox 6 is on with more local hours of morning news than the rest of the stations in the market, with coverage going through to 9 a.m., where the station’s local "Real Milwaukee" airs.
