The Milwaukee Radio Alliance, the ownership group behind WLUM-FM 102.1, announced Wednesday that morning show host Jon Adler will create a new show at the station.
On Monday, Adler’s former co-host Brian Kramp was let go, as the company made the decision not to renew his contract. Find that report here.
The new show will feature music and entertainment elements in a fast-paced format and air weekdays, according to a news release. The new program with Adler will start on May 20.
"Jon Adler’s quick wit and passion for music, comedy, and encyclopedic knowledge of pop culture make him the perfect person for this role," the station’s program director Jacent Jackson said in a statement.
In what he called a strange and interesting week, Adler shared his thoughts on Facebook.
"Let me first say that Brian Kramp has been, is and always will be one of my best and dearest friends. He is also WITHOUT question one of the hardest working people in radio and anything he's ever achieved. If you know him you know his drive, commitment and passion goes into all he does. Working with my friend for the last 7 years has been a dream (one we've both had since UW-Whitewater) and being in radio has been a lifelong dream come true for me," Adler wrote.
The show he will host will be more music-intensive than was the "Kramp & Adler Show."
"So when the station offered me the position of continuing the show alone I was faced with a VERY personal and professional decision and the most difficult I've EVER had to make," he posted.
As the comments rolled in, frequent guest WITI-TV Fox 6 anchor Brad Hicks weighed in, posting that he, "… wants his two friends to both be happy in life. Hugs to you both during this rough week."

However, for a final Halloween cinematic creep-out more for the adults in the house, the thriller "Extinction" might be worth scaring up from VOD or a DVD rental spot.

When lighting, textures and scenery pop on a screen - especially in a familiar tale that we've envisioned ourselves - we can be transported. In the case of Disney's "Cinderella," we feel like we are there, interacting with the characters at the royal ball, waiting for the clock to strike 12 times.

We have to wait several more months before "The Force Awakens" unleashes itself upon the world, likely nabbing pretty much every box office record in the galaxy in the process. In the meantime, there's plenty of "Star Wars" related home entertainment - "LEGO Star Wars: The New Yoda Chronicles" and season one of "Star Wars Rebels" - to keep our spare time engrossed in the universe.
