The Milwaukee Board of School Directors and the Milwaukee Public School administration selected The Salvation Army and WISN-TV Ch. 12 to receive the Board’s Excellence in Education Award for September 2013.

This award is presented each month to an individual, organization or community partner that has worked to improve educational opportunities and outcomes for students. The Salvation Army and WISN were selected for The WISN Phone-A-Thon to benefit The Salvation Army’s Back to School Donation Program.

The Salvation Army and WISN partnership, and the generosity of so many in the community, provided students at four MPS elementary schools – Ralph Waldo Emerson, Auer Avenue, Hi-Mount and Lancaster – new backpacks filled with supplies.
