Milwaukee suffers from a major identity crisis. Visit any other major city in America and tell people that you are from Milwaukee and you'll get some quip about Harley-Davidson, Laverne & Shirley, Jeffrey Dahmer, or maybe the Brewers. That's pretty pathetic.
Locally, if you ask someone "what's wrong" with Milwaukee, you'll get a litany of insignificant answers: MPS, the weather, the Bradley Center, traffic, no light rail, etc. The conservatives decry the "ghetto mentality" that is pervasive throughout the north (norf) side and the liberals spew ideolgical drivel about "diversity" but the problems are really quite simple.
Milwaukee has too many stupid, trashy people--white, black, yellow, brown, and every other skin tone known to man. It isn't a racial issue, it isn't an ethnic issues, and it isn't a relgiious issue. Milwaukee has too many people who don't contribute to the betterment of society, at the local/state/federal/global level. They are leeches on the system and cause everyone here to have a lower quality of life than would be possible without them.
Mass execution isn't an option politically, but relocation or at least massive population control methods are feasible and should be employed at all costs. No more "baby mama drama" in the next generation, let's get Milwaukee down to about 300,000 decent people. Pay some to leave, pay some not to have any (more) kids, and insist than anyone who stays graduates from at least high school and works at least 30 hours a week.
It would be great if, forty years from now, the only crimes were ones of fashion and if Milwaukee would set the bar for a high quality of life at a low cost of living--to the point where we would have to turn people away in order to curb senseless growth.
It may be a pipe dream, but every time I drive through the ghetto or watch the local news, I just want to leave Milwaukee and reside in a city where people are taking actions to rid society of the illness that inhabits most urban areas.

Relocation is the answer and Milwaukee politicians lack leadership. Even Madison practices Section 8. When leaders lack leadership, the sailboat goes no where.

Ya. It is unfortunate that there are a lot crappy people in Milwaukee.. but it is true of every most every city/town with > 5,000 residents (and many with as little as a few hundred).
Not sure where this Utopia exists that you allude to (you may have been watching to much surReality TV), but I think Milwaukee is on the right track and is only going to get better as the future unfolds.
Some of your methods sound like you are suggesting bringing back the Third Reich... but I guess only you can understand that.
Also "contributing to society" is a relative thing. The spoiled stars of those lifestyles of the rich and spoiled shows like Laguna Beach, The Hills, etc. certainly don't contribute much if at all to society, but I'm sure you wouldn't mind having them live with us, because they are the "fashionable" people you feel comfortable around.
If you want to leave because you feel Milwaukeeans aren't (always) trying to better the city, then by all means, spare us your condescension. You are doing little to help the ills of the city by threatening us all with your insignificant departure- get out and volunteer, speak to city representatives, transfer your frustration into meaningful actions.
From what your post sounds like, you'd be much better off in a fictional city like Agrestic/Majestic, or.. maybe in Laguna Beach?
Milwaukee is a big, diverse city- and like Chicago or New York or Los Angeles- there are many good things, and some bad things, that go along with that. We can always strive to be better (I think we do) just like any other city. But please, recognize some of the things that make Milwaukee great before trashing the town as some kind of wasteland.
This isn't Paris- get over it.
PS: Stop driving through the ghettos- some of the residents there may have read your blog and taken issue with your fact-filled assumptions.

Terra, what does this mean? "You'd think that with absolutely no credibility left to lose, OMC would be more careful about who they let use their site as a mouthpiece." So you're saying that om.com should only let people blog who have opinions you agree with? Seems to defeat the purpose. And why/when did onmilwaukee lose all its credibility?
