I CAN'T BELIEVE the new polybags are being spun as eco friendly. Not only is this polybag used to contain wasteful and annoying junk mail (does anyone read or use the coupons in Weekend Plus?) but now it's creating even MORE garbage, LITTER and waste- JUST what Milwaukee needs, more litter!!!!!!!!!!!
If you haven't read the ridiculous preachings on the surface of the bag, please see below:
"The majority of raw materials used in the manufacturing process pf these products come from the post industrial recycled materials (not from land fills) and free of contaminants. Under a recycling culture, together we can all contribute to the environment. Turning the perceived negative aspect of a recycled material (black) into something positive for the plant (green) thus comes the concept of black is green"
What, REALLY????!!!!
Black is the new green!!!!!!!??
Did you not burn fuels to recycle the plastics to make these bags?
Were the bags not printed using inks that were probably toxic?
What is green about this?? And how is forcing junk mail on people green?
I can't believe this is happening, especially in a time when we are trying to move away from using plastic bags all together because of the enormous amounts of litter they cause. I don't want to create more need for recycling.
We should be trying to lessen the amount of garbage and need for recycling, not increasing it.
When you go through neighborhoods, they are littering people's stoops and sidewalks. We need to put a stop to this.
Is anyone else upset about this?

We couldn't agree with you more. The U.S. is sadly behind the rest of the world when it comes to embracing the use of reusable bags. Unfortunately, the inexpensive polypropylene bags being promoted across our country right now will provide the next wave of bags in our landfills. They are constructed with thin pieces of plastic film punctured to look like woven fabric. We believe consumers should choose bags they love, while considering the durability and size most convenient for their needs. This will help create an enjoyment and long-term habit of using reusable shopping bags.

OK, here's a plan: let's have the people who recycle, buy fuel efficient vehicles and other similar "green" initiatives get point credits that they can pass to their children and grandchildren. When the earth's resources dwindle, the only way to access them will be based on point totals. That way, the likes of Chateau Dweller and his/her offspring can take all the spiteful actions they want today and then they can watch us drink fresh water later.

It is facinating to observe green nonsense. In the spirit of this blog, I'm going grocery shopping tonight and will ask for plastic.
