Wally Dog is wearing a look of bemusement because he is wondering just how people name their pets.  Cats are easy, he thinks, something like Fluffy or Smokey or Princess.  His own archnemesis, Mr. Tuxedo, got his name because he looks like he's wearing a tuxedo.  Well...duh!

But what about dogs?  Most every dog Wally knows is named Max.  What's up with that?  Max (the Meanie), a German Sheperd, is the reason Wally dog only has three legs and has to wear custom dog clothes because he lost his fur after surgery.  And Max (the Mutt) is the name of the dog who lived on the other side of Wally in VA.  And, of course, Wally's best friend in Pewaukee is named Max (the Mini).  Wally calls the Pewaukee dog Max the Mini because he's a Yorkie.  And there are other Max dogs, too.  According to some online posts, Max is the second most popular dog name, right behind Buddy.  (That name seems self-explanatory, too, as dog is man's best friend.)  Wally wants to know why all of the Max's?  How about something more creative?

Wally got his official name, Wallace Martin, because he was chosen from a litter of puppies being given away in front of the Wal-Mart.  Clever, huh?
