The 40 Days and 40 Nights of 40: Day 6

What do you really need?  OK, take a second and think.  I’ll wait.  (Jeopardy music – it’s not trademarked in your mind!)…………

So, what did you come up with?

I’ve done a lot of moving in the past five years; from Milwaukee to LA back to Milwaukee to Laguna Beach back to Milwaukee and now on to NYC.  And, among all those moves, I also traveled as a consultant for weeks at a time.  I think I’ve become a master of traveling and living light.  Oh, make no mistake, I love my things.  I just have less of them now – the best of the best (and most of it in storage).

So, back to the question.  I can make my list really quick and short (I think – this is the first time I’m doing it… Real Time with David Todd!)

Laptop (Dell Inspiron 1520)

iPhone

Books (on-hand The Power of Intention, but mostly on iPhone Kindle app)

Two pairs of jeans, pair of khakis, pair of black pants, white long sleeve button down, white French cuff shirt, t-shirts, hoodie, underwear, sox, black loafer, white sneakers, flip flops, blazer, tux, my personalized (red) campaign Chuck Taylors.

Toothbrush, toothpaste, cologne (less than three ounce – safety, safety in the sky), deodorant, Ivory soap, moisturizer, lip balm.

Camera (the iPhone got no iFlash!) and mine takes video, too (no I don’t have “THE S” – it’s the most over asked question!  “Is that the S?”)

A few DVDs (Fleetwood Mac The Dance, Streisand’s TV specials, West Wing, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip).

My mother’s gold Chanel ring and diamond studs, pair of hoops. Watch.

I think it all fits in a suitcase and carry-on.  It’s amazing with all the gadgets we have we can carry books, documents, pictures, videos, music… when they start carrying wine, it’s all over for me.  I’ll be in a small room with my iVine (while it’s playing Fleetwood Mac)!

What’s in yours?

I like traveling and living small.  Less to worry about, less laundry to do, less attachment.  But, this fits my value system, and maybe not yours.  I’m not a clothes hound, although I can be persuaded.  Yeah, I need a bed, but a futon can be a sofa, too.

And the other thing is it helps me feel as if I’m living a more Zen lifestyle.  Like I said, less attached to the material and more attached to the pleasures of life: music, literature and each other… OH and wine!

What do you really need?  Feel free to let me know.

Cheers
