"All we are saying is give peace a chance."

I woke this morning to the news that a sitting US President, Barack Obama, has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize - a surprise to everyone, including the President.

As to not seem overly biased, I posted the story from FOX News on my Facebook page.  In a live report today from the Rose Garden at the White House, President Obama said he would accept the award as a "call to action" for him and all nations to aspire to a peaceful world.

Classy.

We can take it as a call to action as well.  Last night while watching the news my father made the comment about how many shootings gave been happening in Milwaukee.  We can start there.  We can start in our own homes, in our schools, in our neighborhoods and in the workplace.  We can take this call to action to lift people up rather than cut them down.

Forty is undeniably middle age; so, quite possibly half way through my life.  The thing I am most excited about is seeing what we can accomplish in the next 40 years.  Can we slow or stop the damage to our environment (the worlds going to be here anyway, with or without us)?  Can we provide food and healthcare for all those who need it (it's a fact that there is enough food being produced today in the world)?  Can we honor individual's beliefs without taking freedoms away from others?  I hope so.

Cheers!
