This morning I was listening to the radio and heard that President Obama had won the Nobel Peace Prize.  At first I must say I was surprised, but as I thought about more about the history of this award I realized that this is par for the course.

I don't have a problem with the rest of the awards, but the peace prize is now just a joke to me.  First you need to know that the prize is given out by 5 people we are appointed by the Norwegian Sorting.  That is Norway's Parliament.  Norway is a constitutional monarchy that leans very left of center.  Socialist is what most of us would call it.  So Socialist awards socialism... no big deal right?  Wrong.  This should be the Nobel Peace Prize, not the Nobel Politics Prize.

Let us look at the past winners:

1997 Al Gore - "for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to    counteract such change" That is such a joke!  Al Gore's idea of global warming is a scam.  And I will debate my real science against his junk science any day!

2005 IAEA - "for their efforts to prevent nuclear energy from being used for military purposes and to ensure that nuclear energy for peaceful purposes is used in the safest possible way" A toothless UN organization that has done nothing to stop the proliferation of nuclear weapons to countries like India, Pakistan, North Korea or Iran!

2002 Jimmy Carter - "for his decades of untiring effort to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, to advance democracy and human rights, and to promote economic and social          development" Another Joke!  It is only because he spoke up against the war against Iraq.  They        pasted him over when he was a sitting president and negotiated peace between Egypt and Israel.

2001 Kofi Annan and the UN - "for their work for a better organized and more peaceful world" This is same person and organization that had their hands dirty in the Oil for Food/Cash/Bribes/oil contracts program.  Oh yeah let us not forget the lack of action by the UN while Iraq was locking on and firing missile at US aircraft patrolling the UN mandated no fly zone in the north and south of Iraq.

1994 Yasser Arafat "for their efforts to create peace in the Middle East"  Arafat was a terrorist, while his personal wealth was estimated at around 1.3 billion dollars the people of Palestine starved and lived in pressboard huts so he could control them and direct that hatred towards the Jews.  Then he could stand back and say he was not involved in the attacks.

What about some conservatives who should have won.  Ronald Regan ended the cold war.  George H.W. Bush building an international coalition to free the people of Kuwait.  George W. Bush for bringing freedom and democracy to Iraq and Afghanistan.  By excluding people who have truly worked to bring peace and prosperity to all corners of earth only because they have different political beliefs, only goes to show that this prize is more about politics than peace.

President Obama has done nothing to earn this prize, and I believe that the committees decision has finally made the Nobel Peace Prize irrelevant to me and millions of others.
