If You Think Health Care Is Expensive Now
Please send the following letter to your Senators and Representative --
If you think healthcare is expensive now, wait until it is "free!" The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has said the "Obama Compromise" is a $1 TRILLION bill. However, when one ignores the accounting gimmicks that double-count and the inclusion of 10 years of revenue for 6 years of expenses, the result is a $2.3 TRILLION price tag! Even Senate Budget Committee chairman, Democrat Ken Conrad has said that this "accounting" is a Ponzi scheme that would make Bernie Madoff proud.
On March 2, President Obama said what he believes his health reform would accomplish:
1. End insurance company abuses. Among other features, Obama Care creates the Health Insurance Rate Authority to monitor and regulate premium increases to make raising insurance premiums illegal. Price controls are always the first resort of national health care-i.e., Medicare’s administered prices for doctors and hospitals. This is merely a preview of ObamaCare's inevitable planned medical economy, which will reduce choice and quality. The goal is to engineer a cheaper system through brute force so the government can pay for health care for all. What inevitably suffers is the quality of care for individual patients.
2. Provide access to quality, affordable coverage. Sure, people earning up to 400% of the poverty line-or about $96,000 for a family of four in 2016-will qualify for government help, and, naturally, this new entitlement is designed to expand over time.
3. Cost control. Huh? The CBP estimates that our premiums in the individual market would jump by 10% to 13% in 2016 because the government will mandate that consumers buy richer benefits than they otherwise would. Obama has even conceded this point but said these mandates are simple consumer protections. What kind of "cost control" is a 10% to 13% INCREASE IN PREMIUMS?
What the President failed to mention is that ALL OF THE CURRENT HEALTH CARE REFORM LEGISLATION raids MEDICARE for at least $15 Billion. Such raids will effectively kill MEDICARE. If MEDICARE goes so do the retired military health benefits because TRICARE and TRICARE FOR LIFE are indexed to MEDICARE rates.
On the basis of what the President failed to mention, I very strongly urge you to vote against any and all of the current health care reform legislation until such time as it offers health care protection to those warriors who laid their health and lives on the line for this great country.
