A couple days ago, we let you know that Mitchell Manor was having a Pie Contest.  Well the ballot is in, the winner is...

People from all over the community joined together today to sample 29 pies and desserts from amateur chefs at Mitchell Manor and chefs from local restaurants, (Antingua, Knights of Columbus, Grebe's & Get Them While They're Hot Tamales).

Of the three categories judged, Homemade, Commercial Pies & Commercial Desserts; Commercial Desserts was by far the most exciting!  Four desserts were entered.  A spicy chocolate cake topped with strawberry, an apple cake, Tres Leches (three milks) Cake and NY Style Cherry Cheesecake.  Although, all 4 desserts were good; two stole the show.  The spicy chocolate cake and the Tres Leches cake.  The judges were in a lock.  A third judge needed to be called in to break the tie. 

And the winner is.... Tres Leches.  A three layer white cake with a strawberry filling and whipped cream topping won!  This cake was prepared by a new restaurant in the neighborhood, Get Them While They're Hot Tamales, 8223 W Becher St, West Allis, 414-541-6155.
