STUFF STUFF

We dipped into spring for a while before churches chimed midnight on 12/31/10. Spring didn’t lead into summer, instead lead to midwinter mutters, though it wasn’t midwinter. Yes, 2011 began with howls of wind.
Weird weather here, dramatic temperature swings, our first serious floods, yet look at the rest of the world. Planet Earth is flooding beyond all basements. In Queensland, an area the size of France and Germany combined is under water. Record storms, record cold, snow in California, Florida frosts, melting at the poles...
Earth’s getting wetter, while it’s getting drier,
First we freeze, then we perspire,
Earthquakes, tsunamis,
Dust from Africa
wafts to Miami
Volcanic eruptions, clouds of ash
Severe disruptions, Earth’s under the lash
Something’s askew,
I ask you, I ask you
What can we
look forward to?
That gang of
climate-change deniers
Has descended on Congress
to set DC on fire
With ideas we hoped
Had long ago expired
They’re all hot-wired
To turn the clock back
To stop progress in its tracks
Stop, stop, enough, enough
Why can’t they learn
To forget about
STUFF
