Chill-i-Fest 2011 Promises Lots of Family Fun
Oconomowoc, WI - Downtown Oconomowoc will be abuzz with ice sculpting, winter sports and culinary competition during the 4th annual Chill-i-Fest, Saturday, January 15, from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM, sponsored by the Downtown Oconomowoc Merchants Association (DOMA).
The highlight of the day will be the annual Ice Sculpture contest, which will attract artists from all over the area. Mayor Jim Daley and Don Berg, Winter Fun Inc. will be judging the 10 professional carvers with the three top three artists being awarded over $300 in prize money.
The Oconomowoc Parks & Recreation Department has plenty of activities planned for the Fowler Lake portion of the day's activities. Of course, if people want something quieter, there's nothing like chili sampling on a cold winter day. There will be prizes for the best chili, as voted on by cuisine professionals, but there will also be a "People's Choice" award voted on by event attendees; official chili judges will be Bob Duffy and Joel Kleefisch.
"This is a great opportunity to beat back the cabin fever and get some fresh air," Whelan continued, "families can relax and enjoy the ice sculptures, some local cuisine, in-house specials in participating business or take to the ice on Fowler Lake." Thank you to our sponsors: Peter Sheild, DDS, Korbell Brandy & Kenwood Vineyards, 1st Bank Financial Centre, Orion Sales Partners, ltd, City of Oconomowoc, Oconomowoc Realty, DOMA and US Bank.
