Gotta start somewhere...
Here's to a new start~
Welcome to those of you brave enough to wade through, what I hope, is an entertaining blog about my favorite city, Milwaukee. First, allow me to introduce myself. I am a self proclaimed guru of Milwaukee. I don't really know everything about our city, but everybody has to have a hook. Brew City Guru seemed to roll off the tongue, and my goal is to experience whatever Milwaukee can throw at me until I can live up to the title. My passions are foodieism (my new word, you can't have it), and live music. We are blessed with a city that provides an abundance of both. Aside from my passions, my qualifications to be your travel partner include 15+ years experience in the restaurant/bar and hospitality industries. I am also a published music critic, a DJ of moderate skill, and a product of a mother that often corrected my grammar.
I grew up in South Milwaukee (go Rockets) and lived most recently in Sussex. To be true to this blog, and truly be available to all the great events and opportunities, I have recently moved to The East Side. For someone who has lived a good portion of their life outside the city limits, the east side can be a little jarring. From the complete lack of adequate parking, to the crazed Packer fan stopping traffic and screaming his passionate support for the green and gold. (Of course this guy lives in my building.) I have a bit to get used to it seems. My dog also seems to be a tad confused by the sudden move to where people and other dogs live. He'll probably adapt far quicker than I.
I'm going to blog some reviews of restaurants, pubs, bars, festivals, bands and what ever else I can stick my nose into. As well as some ideas and suggestions for upcoming or ongoing events.
