DON'T Stop Giving to Komen ...LOCALLY!

...at least not based on the recent hub-ub.  After just watching the nightly news report (3-22-12), I realized that no where in the story did they mention that 75% of the money that YOU donate to the LOCAL affiliate STAYS HERE in Southeastern Wisconsin - that includes Race for the Cure (not the blender).  Only 25% goes to Nancy Binker and research (which quite frankly has been ground-breaking), but the rest is ours.  How do I know?  I used to work for one of the largest affilaites in the nation, and served on the Board of Directors of the local chapter.  These people are doing good things, with good people to help other good people.

Don't give to Komen for some other reason.  I personally do not give.  I personally know the money they grant to Planned Parenthood goes to community breast health programs and not abortions.  But, don't NOT give to Komen based on their national policy (unless you're trying to make a politcal statement ...but, I thought you were trying to save a life).  -David Todd, Komen Advocate
