Audiences Bring Show to Life in Upcoming Murder Mystery

Have you heard the news? Port Washington's own Memories Ballroom has been selected as the site of a new, national television reality show called "The E-Factor- The Search for the Next Elvis". Unfortunately, things begin to get "all shook up", as television cameras begin to roll, resulting in jealousy, anger, mayhem, and ultimately, death. This is the setting for Memories' upcoming audience-interactive murder mystery, "You Ain't Nothin' But a Dead Dog"- playing January 25-26, 2013.
Murder Mysteries are an engaging form of dinner theater that draws audiences into the thick of the plot, as detectives or even as one of the characters in the show. The show begins as the audience is seated and served a progressive dinner, with show characters in their midst. Everyone is a suspect and attention to detail pays off as clues are revealed.
Writer and director of "You Ain't Nothin' but a Dead Dog," Heather Clayton, explains, "The show has varying levels of participation and it is up to each audience member to decide what level of participation they are most comfortable with."
Some extroverted audience members may discreetly be offered a role in the evening's entertainment, which they can choose whether or not to accept. Others will simply sit back and enjoy the story unfolding before them. At the end of the night, every audience member is offered the opportunity to vote on whom they believe the murderer to be, and to explain why.
Prizes are awarded to a randomly selected correct entry as well as to the most creative and outlandish answer.
Murder Mysteries always draw a crowd at Memories. Clayton hypothesizes, "I think the real appeal of murder mysteries is that they are a way for grown-ups to play "make-believe". For a few hours, you get away from the stress and hustle n' bustle of everyday life and simply have fun...pretending."
The cost for the show is $25 and includes a delicious dinner of country fried steak with gravy, cheesy potato soup, sides and dessert. Tickets are available online any time at www.memoriesballroom.com or by calling Memories directly at 262-284-6850. Memories is located at 1077 Lake Drive in Port Washington.
