Unruly Music: Matthew Burtner- Oceans/Elements

UWM's 2010-11 Provost's Fellow, composer and saxophonist Matthew Burtner presents a recital of music for soprano saxophone and natural elements such as water, wind and sand, investigating environmental issues and the relationships between sound, human activity and nature.

Spanning a wide variety of genres and styles, the Unruly Music Series explores contemporary trends in chamber music, improvisation and  electronic sound. Unruly Music is directed by composer Christopher Burns and is a co-production of the UWM Peck School of the Arts and the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts.

Venue Description:
The Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, Wisconsin's premier entertainment showcase, is home to the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Florentine Opera, Milwaukee Ballet and First Stage Milwaukee. It is also a presenter of hit Broadway touring shows.
