"Lands that hold one spellbound": Louise Boyd’s East Greenland Expeditions, 1931-1938

A presentation by Dr. Frederick E. Nelson, Dept. of Geography, University of Delaware, on photographer and explorer Louise Arner Boyd, who led four expeditions to East Greenland during the 1930s. The Boyd expeditions achieved remarkable results in glacier mapping, fiord bathymetry and geo- morphology. Several expedition participants subsequently became leaders in their respective scientific fields, although Boyd herself fell into relative obscurity.
