I don't know what's in it, but I like it...

This past weekend my friends and I took a trip to Bryant's over on Lapham. From the exterior, I thought I was walking into a bootlegger's house, awaiting my jar of moonshine. Walking in, I thought I'd get into a fight while I accidently bumped into people while my eyes adjusted to the low lighting.

While my friends had been there before and knew what they were going to order, I had not and was at a loss for what to get. I didn't even know what they had to offer. I fell back on the "I'll have what she's having", a dangerous choice if you have friends who love their drinks straight-up. Luckily, my friends don't.

I ended up ordering a "Strawberry- Banana", strawberry-banana ______ what? What did I order? What shots were those that he just put in there? Whats that tub of stuff he's adding? "Oh no," I thought to myself "I'm going to hate this and it cost me $7..."

BOY, WAS I WRONG. I took one sip, waiting for the alcohol to kick me in the stomach. Nothing happened. Took another, maybe I just got the top of it. Nothing happened. I tried stirring it, convinced that the alcohol was at the bottom. Nothing, again. Before I knew it, I was ordering a second one... I would have ordered a 3rd but Bryant's was merely our first stop of the Friday night and my friends silently cut me off.

If you haven't been to Bryant's I highly recommend. You may not know what's in it, but it's delicious! Best $14 I spent...

Movie or Popcorn?

I recently went to a movie (The Fountain) with some friends of mine. Before the movie starts we stop at the concessions stand. Being the little piggy that I am I order "The Perfect Combo"- a large carbonated beverage and large popcorn. My friend asked if we could share. "Right", I said to him "share". I don't know if you know this but I love popcorn. I wish the concession attendent still put the butter on for you, its so much easier that way.
I can easily eat an entire bag of movie theatre popcorn by myself in one sitting of a 2 hour movie. I know, its disgusting. I'm not hungry when I go to the movies, I'm just bored sometimes.
I pay $8.50, thanks to my student discount, for every movie I see. I enjoy going to the movies, but rarely to do I enjoy the movie. Movies just don't do it for me anymore- they don't make 'em like the used to.
During the first 15 minutes of the movie, I easily ate 1/4 of the popcorn, and drank half of my cherry cola. I was just confused! I think my friend could tell, because without me looking at him he just whispered "Don't worry, it will make sense eventually". Eventually, it all made sense and good thing too because I ran out of popcorn half way through.

SNOW DAYS

I never had any idea that a Snow Day could take place on a college campus. I feel like I'm in 4 th grade again, waiting for the radio to say our school district and then we all jump for joy, run and put our snow-clothes on (one-pieces snow suits, with mittens that are attached to each other) because you can't go to school in this snow, but you can go outside, or over to your friend's houses in this snow.

So as excited as I am that I have no school today,(which I wouldn't have anyway- because I tend not to go to my Friday class), I was even more excited that my internship company ALSO declared a snow day (unless you think you can make it in safely). If I live like a mile away, and need to walk and take the bus and walk again- when I don't have snow-appropriate clothing, can I make it in safely? I'm thinking no, but I'm also thinking how much trouble I'd get into if I didn't show up....

In the meantime, I'm not getting ready for work, and waiting, waiting, waiting for the email to "bling"....

If I don't have work I will most likely go over to my friend's house and play in the snow, just like a 4th grader.

Some Post-Thanksgiving Thoughts

Black Wednesday really isn't what it's all cracked up to be.

I appreciate the time and effort my dad puts into making a Thanksgiving feast in the same small kitchen for the past 20 odd years.

I learned to always check the inside of the turkey for its bag o' giblits (I've heard some horror stories about not checking- yuck)

I know not to start kitchen and/or home remodeling anytime before Thanksgiving and between Christmas/New Years.

I still don't like cheesy brocolli crackers cassarole, so stop asking me to try it.

How did I (the only college student left in the family) end up with no leftovers to take back to school?

When someone asks you "How was your Thanksgiving?" are you supposed to say something besides, "delicious" or "great"?

Key Lime Martini's are delicious (especially with graham crackers on the rim of the glass).

I think it's funny that the Food Network shows how to cook a Thanksgiving Turkey, the day of Thanksgiving. If you don't know by now, you're screwed.

There is nothing more fun than playing Trivial Pursuit (1st edition) with an 80 year old man. It makes you feel real dumb.

Because I was taught how to cook this year, am I roped in to cook next year?
