Milwaukee's best pizza, 2008: Pizza Man
When it comes to pizza and OnMilwaukee.com's annual "Best of" contest, well, there is an undisputed heavyweight champ. Pizza Man. The fact is, this North Avenue eatery wins pretty much every year. This year, it garnered nearly 16% of the votes. In 2006, Pizza Man and Zaffiro's went head to head in an OnMilwaukee.com Milwaukee Challenge and your favorite won unanimously.

Milwaukee is home to a bevy of great pizzerias, but OnMilwaukee.com readers picked Zaffiro's as the top pie maker. The mom-and-pop pizza place has been in the same East Side location since 1951. Today, the restaurant is owned by Mike Zaffiro, the son of the original owner.

Little has changed since 1956 when the Zaffiro family started tossing what many consider to be the very best pizza in Milwaukee, and the SRO crowds attest to the city's love affair for the thin crust beauties that come flying out of the oven.
