More little Milwaukee landmarks
Back in January, I posted an illustrated collection of some of the "little landmarks" I enjoy most in Milwaukee. That list led to requests for more. So, by popular demand, here are more of my favorite "little" places in Milwaukee (I've easily got another 10 in the hopper), in no particular order.

Urban spelunking: Endangered old schoolhouses
When visiting a shuttered old schoolhouse, it's hard not to imagine the patter of little feet, the vibe of a classroom full of kids or a lunchroom bustling with activity and alive with chatter. Coggs makes politics personal
It's no secret that Ald. Milele Coggs and Chief Edward Flynn don't get along. Coggs is one of the leaders of the demonstrators who are demanding answers about the death of Derek Williams in police custody. The way I see it, in the budget deliberations, Coggs figured the way to get back at the chief was to eliminate the salary for the public relations position at the police department.

A crowded field in the 5th district
More than a decade ago, in a little-interest school board election in Milwaukee, everybody was surprised when a barely-known poet and creative writing teacher won by beating a lawyer who had the support of the establishment.
