Listener-supported radio station 88Nine Radio Milwaukee loves to give back to the community, creating Milwaukee-centric pieces that seek out and highlight worthy people and places in and around Milwaukee. Another thing they love to do is throw a great party. This Halloween the station is looking to pack Turner Hall with a uncharacteristically rar performance from Minneapolis-based Rhymesayers hip-hop artist Brother Ali.

88Nine Radio Milwaukee has taken a very aggressive approach to the coverage of Milwaukee culture. Its latest collaboration with the public is the Remix Milwaukee project, which asks Milwaukeeans or those that frequent the city to record appropriate audio to act as a sample for the composition of original music.

A little over a year ago, radio veteran Make Keefe stepped in as 88Nine Radio Milwaukee proggram director during a time when several of Milwaukee's media were launching major criticisms of the station. During his time on the job, Keefe has helped to rework the station through both his love of music and the medium of radio.

Yesterday, 88Nine Radio Milwaukee announced the winners of their listener's choice awards, and Milwaukee hip-hop snagged a couple of awards and was represented in a big way.
