Milwaukee's best chef, 2009: Sanford D'Amato
Working as a chef in his hometown for nearly 30 years, including 20 at the iconic restaurant that bears his first name, Sanford D'Amato has garnered dozens of awards for his cooking. Now, he has another. D'Amato, who along with his wife, Angie, operates Sanford and Coquette Cafe was named Milwaukee's best chef in our readers' survey.

Chef profile: Ristorante Bartolotta's Zachary Baker
Foodies around town know the Bartolotta name, of course, and Bartolotta chefs like Adam Siegel and Juan Urbieta are also pretty high profile in Milwaukee. But as anyone knows, it takes a village -- or at least a crack staff -- to make a restaurant like Wauwatosa's Ristorante Bartolotta hum on a daily basis.
