It's been a long time since I was smashed in the front row of a concert, unable to move, victim to beer spilled in my sandals and the smell of whatever else is going on in the air. But that happened to me at the Atmosphere concert, which took place tonight on the Miller Lite Stage. And I enjoyed every minute of it.

Madison-born, Minneapolis-raised rapper Brother Ali will perform on Monday, Oct. 31 at Historic Turner Ballroom. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets go on sale on Friday, Oct. 4 at noon. The cost is $20.

Sean "Slug" Daley, emcee of Atmosphere and one of the founders of Minneapolis-based Rhymesayers Entertainment, established himself early in his career as a rapper that examined the normal life young adults live while trying to find themselves. Now a married man with two children, he's gravitating further toward being a full-time family man.

Independent rap outfit Atmosphere brings its "To All My Friends Tour" to the Riverside Theater on Thursday, Sept. 9 at 8 p.m. Also along for the jaunt are Rhymesayers labelmates Blueprint, Grieves & Budo and DJ Rare Groove.
