OnMilwaukee.com is excited to host the fifth annual Bartender Olympics - which takes place Thursday, Feb. 28 at Wherehouse, 818 S. Water St. You can come watch Milwaukee bartenders compete for the gold. The free event starts at 7:30 p.m. and will feature 10 local bartenders showing off their Pabst can stacking skills, karaoke talents (or lack thereof) and a new cocktail competition.

Everyone knows about peer pressure for teens. But our culture seems to take in stride the prevalence of peer pressure in the adult world, especially where alcohol is concerned - and especially here in Milwaukee. And those who abstain - for whatever reason - are often seen as just plain strange.

Once you're an adult, you don't generally have people telling you what you can and cannot wear in your free time.But there are a surprising number of bars and clubs in the Milwaukee area that enforce dress codes - and they might not be the ones that come to mind when you think of "dressing up."

It took time for the 4-year-old-tavern McKiernan's to find its legs, but recently, it underwent changes and introduced a new menu - including lunch options - and a Guinness Club. The bar and grill has a similar look and feel as Barnacle Bud's, which makes sense, considering it has the same chef and owner.
