Death Cab for Cutie played tonight at The Riverside Theatre with the Majik*Majik Orchestra for a sold-out audience. The show was a melancholy, energetic delivery of songs from past and present with an extremely dramatic ending.

"Music isn't as good now as when I was young" -- you hear people utter variations of this phrase all the time. At least I do. And it makes me realize something about the speaker: (s)he pays no real attention to music.

If the sold out crowd at Turner Hall on Saturday night expected to hear songs by the respective bands led by Ben Gibbard and Jay Farrar -- Death Cab for Cutie and Son Volt -- it didn't get its wish.

Son Volt's Jay Farrar and Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Gibbard make an unlikely duo, but on their new disc, "One Fast Move or I'm Gone," the two seem to be ready-made to work together. They play at Turner Hall Saturday.
