Though the Lakeshore Chinooks are not technically a minor league team - the Northwoods League is an amateur league that doesn't pay its players to preserve their NCAA eligibility - their games, played at Kapco Park on the idyllic Concordia University campus, are just as fun.

Concordia University Wisconsin will celebrate its new baseball facility and first official home game on campus under the new lights Wednesday at 6 p.m. against Carthage as part of an event known as "Concordia Under the Lights."

Prior to the Concordia's scheduled game against Carthage College Tuesday, the school broke ground on the future home for the school's baseball program. The facility will include an all-synthetic field, the first of its kind in Wisconsin. The new baseball field is just the latest project at Concordia, which opened a new environmental studies building last year and will open a new home for its School of Pharmacy later this year.
