Who should be famous?

Famous people get lots of publicity. That's partly why they are famous. The fame drives publicity and the publicity drives fame. But for every famous person in Milwaukee there are hundreds of other people, not famous, who do things that make this city a better place to live. They don't get recognition much beyond their own borders, but this is going to be an attempt to rectify that.

I've lived on Milwaukee's Riverwalk for years, so it's fitting that I mark today's milestone. The Riverwalk turns 20 today.

It used to be Kevin Bacon, then Facebook hit the scene and now LinkedIn is a big player in the "Six Degrees of Separation" game. The world we live in is even smaller thanks to technology and globalization. It is surprising how many connections I make in the most far flung places with people who share something in common with me like a connection to my home turf.
