Milwaukee's best late-night drunk eats, 2009: Oakland Gyros
David Letterman, Conan O'Brien and other TV personalities battle for the title "King of Late Night," but for OnMilwaukee.com readers, Oakland Gyros is the restaurant equivalent. Located at 2687 N. Oakland Ave., the East Side institution prime destination for late-night drunk dinners and once again bested George Webb, Pizza Shuttle and Ma Fischer's and other contenders in our annual survey.

Shift switch: My night as a server at George Webb
Two weeks ago, Senior Editor Drew Olson worked a shift as a server at the George Webb restaurant located in the heart of Wauwatosa at 7410 W. State St. The assignment was part of our new "Shift Switch" series at OnMilwaukee.com. Basically, our writers are fanning out at various locations around town to work at different places and write about the experiences.

I'll be working from 6-9 p.m. at 7401 W. State St., just across from Hart Park in Wauwatosa.

OnMilwaukee.com Recommends: May 7, 2009
We're adding a dash of spice to our offerings this week, in the form of some delicious salsa from Mrs. Renfro. Other recommendations include some delicious desserts (kringle and root beer floats), a relaxing spa treatment, a pair of jazzy records from an underrated sax specialist, a funny movie about a serious topic, a rockin' band at Shank Hall, a couple of provocative Web sites and a great place for a walk or a jog.

If you could choose, would you prefer December or March to stay warm and snowless in Milwaukee?
December. I'm not ready for winter yet.
March. By then, I need winter to be over.
There's no use complaining or hoping for better weather in Wisconsin.
Actually, I like snow.
