Barely two years after his first show in 2013, WebsterX is now living his dream world he created of being a rap star. The 22-year-old rapper has risen to become one of the Milwaukee music scene's biggest stars, grabbing local and national headlines and, most recently, opening for global superstar Lupe Fiasco at the Miller Lite Oasis on Friday, July 3 at 8 p.m.

Rory Ferreira, aka Milo, has always been on the move. When he was a kid, he moved around a lot. Here, he moved up in the local rap scene, and with his name growing clout, he moved yet again - as many hopeful young artists do - to Los Angeles. And as many hopeful young artists do, he soon found the cold part of the industry. It became time to move again, back to the town he previously left: Milwaukee. So far, he's picking up right where he started.

One of the many reasons Wu-Tang Clan star MC Ghostface Killah has remained musically vital has been his musical diversity. In 2014, Ghostface recorded and released "36 Seasons," enlisting Brooklyn-based production squad the Revelations, featuring Milwaukee-born and -bred multi-instrumentalists Gintas Janusonis (who also sings angelically on the album's cover of the Persuaders' "Thin Line Between Love and Hate") and Josh Werner.

Many people in Milwaukee gathered and protested throughout the afternoon Monday when Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm announced that former Milwaukee police officer Christopher Manney will not face any criminal charges in the death of Dontre Hamilton on April 30.

Hip-hop trio Clipping is headed to Milwaukee as part of the tour for its latest record, "CLPPNG," out now on Sub Pop. The three -- Daveed Diggs, Jonathan Snipes and William Hutson -- will open for Busdriver on Thursday, Oct. 23 at the Cactus Club. In advance of the Milwaukee gig, we caught up with Snipes and Hutson, to ask about the new record and the whole idea of genres and the limitations they might impose from outside.
