Country Springs Hotel is nowhere near the size of the big water parks in the Dells. On the other hand, it's nowhere near as far from Milwaukee, either. During the mid-century, Ambassador Hotel, 2308 W. Wisconsin Ave., was one of the most cherished venues for high society weddings, gatherings and travelers. But when the '70s and '80s rolled around, the hotel deteriorated until 1995, when it underwent what became a 10-year, $14 million renovation.
