Milwaukee jazz ensemble to compete in NYC

The Batterman Ensemble of the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music's Jazz Institute has been selected as a finalist to compete in the Charles Mingus High School Jazz Competition in New York City. A concert will be held to help raise funds for the trip.

The ever-occupied, constantly creating Breiwick is a musical force of nature. His new record, "Music of Thelonious Monk: Friday the 13th," is available only as a free download. Breiwick says the release wasn't something he planned.
