First Meijer locations in the state announce store openings

This afternoon, Meijer announced that it's in the home stretch of preparing its first Wisconsin locations for its grand openings. The Michigan-based retailer has confirmed that its two new supercenters in Grafton and Kenosha will open this June, with the following two locations in Oak Creek and Wauwatosa to open shortly after in August.

I want the governor to do what is best for the Wisconsin economy, and I think this casino was best for the Wisconsin economy (including the impoverished Menominee). But even if it wasn't, Jim Doyle didn't do it. Stop blaming Jim Doyle for everything. These are Walker's decisions now, and he needs to own them.

This week a group of Iowa social conservatives issued Gov. Scott Walker an ultimatum: If you want to be president, kill the Kenosha casino, they said. To which I retort: Butt out. Maybe the Iowa Republicans should focus their umbrage on their own riverboats instead.

Potawatomi deserves to have Kenosha proposal turned down

Scott Walker has until Feb. 19 to decide whether to approve a casino in Kenosha. But that facility would clearly have an impact on Milwaukee's Potawatomi Hotel & Casino, and that would certainly be an added hardship for hundreds of charities in the city.
