MPL hosts full day of activities on Martin Luther King Day

Martin Luther King Day is quickly approaching, which means many places have begun planning their holiday festivities. For instance, the Milwaukee Public Library yesterday announced a day full of art and activities on Monday, Jan. 19 for its Martin Luther King branch, located at 310 W. Locust St.


Library seeks developers to partner on four new neighborhood branches

Taking the first step towards identifying potential real estate development partners to build mixed-use buildings featuring a library on the first level, Milwaukee Public Library (MPL) is asking real estate developers to submit information on current and potential projects that could be compatible with a library near four neighborhood libraries slated for replacement.


MPL gets the go ahead to discuss lending "The Bookworm" to Grohmann

The Milwaukee Public Library's Board of Trustees has green-lighted discussions between the library and the Grohmann Museum, 1000 N. Broadway, at Milwaukee School of Engineering, that could bring $1 million to MPL in exchange for loaning Carl Spitzweg's painting, "The Bookworm," to the museum.


Milwaukee artist Ray Chi wins East Library art commission

Today, The Milwaukee Public Library announced the commission award for a public art installation outside the new East Branch, currently under construction. Milwaukee multimedia artist Ray Chi has been selected to create the art project on North Cramer Street and East North Avenue that will reflect the ideas of community, literature, storytelling and learning.
