Schank sets dreams to music on latest CD
"American Movie" introduced the world to Mike Schank, but the Milwaukee musician and actor is more than just Mark Borchardt's sidekick. Schank is passionate about the guitar and he's translated that love for the fretboard into a trio of homemade CDs, including the two most recent ones, "Dreams I Know -- Yesternight" and "Classical Songs I Know."

I kissed Mike Schank from "American Movie"
I'm using this smooch confession as a lede, and a cheap lede at that, to segue into the fact that "American Movie" is 10 years old, and an anniversary screening is set for Thursday, Jan. 22, at Landmark's Oriental Theatre at 7 p.m.

Green Gallery expands east with a second location

Center St. -- Milwaukee filmmaker Mark Borchardt's photo exhibit, "Along the Way" is showing currently -- Riepenhoff is expanding his reach with the opening of the Green Gallery East, 1500 N. Farwell Ave.

Smith returns home to launch "The Pool"
Milwaukeeans all know Mark Borchardt as the face of "American Movie," but director Chris Smith isn't quite as high profile, even here at home. Unless, that is, you're passionate about film and especially home-grown filmmakers. Most recently, Smith wrote the screenplay for and directed "The Pool," filmed in India. It begins a week-long Milwaukee run on Friday.
