Cocktailing is a year-round sport in Milwaukee, but the peak season generally coincides with our all-too-brief flirtation with warm weather. Considering how quickly "American Idol" turned singers such as Danny Gokey and Naima Adedapo into local celebrities, it is surprising how little attention has been paid to Scott Dangerfield. Now back home in Milwaukee, Dangerfield is the lead singer of the five-member band Crash County, who performed Friday night at the Milwaukee Ale House.
For the third year in a row, OnMilwaukee.com readers picked The Wicked Hop as their favorite Third Ward watering hole. The upscale sports bar named after a baseball term is a great place to cheer on the team or catch up with friends and coworkers who are sports-minded or not.
With its regular live music performances, a collection of delicious micro-brews made on the spot, an incredible patio and a surprisingly warm and friendly atmosphere for its size, it's no surprise OnMilwaukee.com readers chose the Milwaukee Ale House, 233 N. Water St., as 2011's best bar in a restaurant.
A new lounge called Oak will open in the Third Ward this March or April in the former BTW space, 231 E. Buffalo St. Jared Siemers - who co-owns the bar with Vic Usaj - worked at Fanatics Sports Central and the Ale House.
