Present Music has announced its 2013-14 season, continuing a tradition of unique performances in creative and non-traditional venues. These seven concerts will also feature a variety of collaborations.

Award winning solo artist Ethan Keller is joined by some amazing musicians on his new cd "Goin Down In HIstory, Goin Down In Flames." The CD release show is Friday at Club Garibaldi in Bay View. Hear a special acoustic track and his take on the Milwaukee music scene as he sits in on today's Kramp Cast.

As part of "The Avant Garde Coffee House Project" exhibit currently on view, there's a glass-topped case with some posters and a record. It's a pretty nondescript thing, frankly, with a black and white photo and some not especially artful text. But that little record - "Blues, Rags and Hollers," by folk blues trio Koerner, Ray & Glover - made a big bang when it was released in June 1963. And it was made in Milwaukee.

In most cases, music comes in the form of quick click and a download bar. Album art has become a lost art, and elements like liner notes, which used to provide a connection between the artists, the listeners and their inspirations, have mostly gone the way of the 8-track player. Gian Pogliano, guitarist for the Bay View "surf-dance-punk" band The Jones Island Flood, is hoping he may have found the ideal solution: a concept he calls the deluxe download.

Though Milwaukee is a long way from being dubbed a hotspot of rock and roll gear innovation, there are a few businesses here creating great equipment for musicians near and far. One of them is Oak Creek-based Rat Rod Drums. Another is the considerably more veteran ACEffects, a one-man show that's been cranking out stomp boxes locally since 1986.
