I believe in religion and religious freedom. But here's what I want to know. How come it is only these Christians who have this seemingly unquenchable drive to shout at me about how great their faith is and how I ought to get on board or I'm doomed.

We don't really understand the spectacle of the white smoke at the Sistine Chapel or the conclave called to pick a new pope. We don't really appreciate the history or the grandeur or the intense spiritual implications that surround picking this one particular man to become one of the most powerful religious leaders in modern society.

Whereas "Inherit the Wind" delivered its debate with heft and unbridled passion, "How the World Began" takes a much quieter approach to the discussion, focusing on just three normal people who become embroiled in both sides of the issue. It's "science versus religion" portrayed in a quieter way than you might expect, but no less fierce.

On Tuesday, Nov. 27 religious leaders from Milwaukee will gather at Marquette University to discuss the challenges facing faith groups in Milwaukee and identify ways to increase mutual cooperation. It's a bit easier than my idea and free to attend.
