Milwaukee's best pizza, 2009: Zaffiro's
Milwaukee is home to a bevy of great pizzerias, but OnMilwaukee.com readers picked Zaffiro's as the top pie maker. The mom-and-pop pizza place has been in the same East Side location since 1951. Today, the restaurant is owned by Mike Zaffiro, the son of the original owner.

Palermo's Pizza gets "Unwrapped" Sept. 14
Milwaukee's Palermo's Pizza makes its national television debut on the Food Network's "Unwrapped" show. The episode, titled "The Big Chill," airs at 8 p.m. on Sept. 14 and gives audiences a peek inside Palermo Villa, the company's facility in the Menomonee Valley.

Wenhardt paints serenity in the Third Ward
Watercolor's complexity and challenge sustains Wenhardt's interest in the medium. Spending years learning the characteristics of washes and how to anticipate color bleeding, Wenhardt acknowledges there is no chance to re-do or go over watercolor work. Instead, he's confident from start to finish with the possibility of what he refers to as "happy accidents."

One space, two radically different dining experiences
The last time I set foot inside the building that now houses Rustico was during the week or so that it was a now-departed Mexican restaurant called Borrego's. Last night, I returned for a social/work dinner, and the experience couldn't have been more different.
