This year's Record Store Day is Saturday, April 21, and The Exclusive Company will have free performances all day at its shops on the East Side (1669 N. Farwell Ave.), in Greenfield (5026 S. 74th St.) and in West Bend (144 N. Main St.).

Sammy Llanas brings his post BoDeans show to Linneman's Riverwest Inn this week for two special "belated birthday" shows on Friday and Saturday night. Llanas will do sets solo and with his new band. He'll feature tunes from his entire career and his latest release, "4 A.M."

Milwaukee has never had enough live music places and many of those it does have need to stage cover bands with big followings. The places that have commitment to letting music do the talking are few and far between, led perhaps by Peter Jest and Shank Hall, where you get local and national acts. But another place with a decades long commitment to live music is Linneman's Riverwest Inn on Locust Street.

Maybe the BoDeans aren't so sad, after all. Though the new CD has some downcast themes and the show Friday night at The Marcus Center for the Performing Arts was subdued, Kurt Neumann and Sam Llanas seemed rested, relaxed, reflective and more than a bit happy during a well-received two-hour set.
