From one Milwaukee icon to another, in just a couple weeks time. About a month ago I had the pleasure of climbing as high as one can go at City Hall. Soon after, on a visit to the Milwaukee Art Museum, public relations manager Kristin Settle said she'd read my account of that trip and made me an offer I couldn't refuse.

The Milwaukee Art Museum salutes the 10th anniversary of its own building Quadracci Pavilion with a new exhibition that can be seen in the Koss Gallery and in the Baumgartner Galleria of the Santiago Calatrava-designed wing. "Building a Masterpiece: Santiago Calatrava and the Milwaukee Art Museum" opens Sept. 8 and closes on New Year's Day 2012.

Since the beginning, Mark di Suvero's bright orange sunburst sculpture -- formally titled "The Calling" -- raised controversy and opposing opinions in Milwaukee. Generally, people either love it or hate.
