After the critically disappointing "Spider-Man 3," Sony Pictures had two options: find a new franchise with interesting characters and exciting stories or reboot "Spider-Man" barely 10 years after he first hit the screen. As is typical with Hollywood, the one that takes less imagination won out, resulting in "The Amazing Spider-Man," an entertaining reboot that can't hide the fact that it's completely unnecessary.

When a movie theater fills to capacit and people are still pouring in and are being turned away, you'd hope that this says something about a movie. This isn't the case for the lukewarm "Tristan & Isolde."

No matter what critics say, fans of the comic book are
going to love the movie. But the fact is, "Spider-Man" is only so-so.
There are plenty of things to like about it, and just as many that
prevent it from achieving greatness.
