This past Saturday, Sept. 20, a friend and I deemed ourselves "urban explorers" for the day. We hopped onto the green line (a proper urban adventure isn't complete without some form of public transportation, right?), ventured from the East Side to Downtown where we visited various landmarks that had their doors wide open for the general public as part of Doors Open Milwaukee.

For 90 years, the Wisconsin State Fair has sold cream puffs. For the first time ever, executive Chef Brian Frakes offered the creamy pastry at The Pfister Hotel's cafe. Recently, seven OnMilwaukee.com employees tried both puffs and picked their favorite.

Multi-media sculptor Niki Johnson will serve as The Pfister Hotel's sixth artist in residence, replacing current artist, Stephanie Barenz. Johnson, who was one of six finalists, will work in The Pfister's art studio for one year, starting April 1.
